Application Documents for Treaty Trader (E-1) Visa
1- Submitted applications must be one single PDF file clearly divided into sections with a clickable table of contents and with a maximum of 70 pages (excluding the G-28 form).
2- Please do NOT include additional documents that are not specifically requested below.
3- Files of more than 70 pages will not be accepted.
4- Physical files will neither be reviewed nor returned if received.

Eligibility Criteria
1- The U.S. enterprise (trading firm) for which you plan to come to the United States must have the nationality of Pakistan.
2- For an enterprise to have the nationality of Pakistan, at least 50 percent of the business or entity must be owned by persons with the Pakistan’s nationality.
3- You or the U.S. enterprise (trading firm) will carry out international trade that is substantial, meaning that there is a sizable and continuing volume of trade; More than 50 percent of the international trade involved must be between the United States and Pakistan.
4- Trade means the international exchange of goods, services, and technology.
5- If you are not the treaty trader, you must be employed in a supervisory or executive capacity, or possess specialized skills essential to the efficient operation of the U.S. enterprise (trading firm).
6- The primary activity between the U.S. and the treaty country must involve “substantial trade,” meaning continuous, sizable transactions between the two countries. (Substantial trade is measured not by the value of each transaction but by the frequency and volume of transactions. Multiple international transactions over time are essential to meet the visa requirements.)
7- If applying as an employee, the individual must hold an executive, supervisory, or specialized skills position crucial to the business's success.
Duration and Renewal
E-1 visas are typically granted for two years. They can be renewed in two-year increments indefinitely, as long as the business continues to meet the treaty trade requirements.
The E-1 visa holder can travel in and out of the U.S. freely during this period, and their spouse and children (under 21) can accompany them. The spouse may apply for work authorization in the U.S.
Application Process
Applicants must complete Form DS-160 & pay the visa fee. Supporting documents may include a passport, a photo meeting U.S. standards, & evidence of trade between the U.S. & the treaty country(e.g., contracts, invoices, financial reports).
An interview at a U.S. consulate is also required.
